HOW TO WEAR BERMUDA SHORTS
Your summer wardrobe is incomplete without the addition of a pair of cute Bermuda shorts. But, if you're not sure how to wear them, don't worry, we've got your back! In this blog post, we'll cover what to do and what not to do when wearing these popular bottoms.
WHAT ARE BERMUDA SHORTS?
For a laid-back look that's perfect for warm weather, longer shorts, often called Bermudas, are the way to go. These versatile bottoms give you added coverage, usually fall around mid-thigh length on most and have either 10" - 12" inches inseam. This style was made popular by the British Overseas Territory Bermuda. Locals have a history of wearing these longer shorts with dress shirts and knee-length socks as business attire.
1) Opposites Attract
When wearing a loose pair of Bermudas, you should always pair them with a fitted top. A fitted top creates balance in your appearance without compromising on comfort. Our popular Flatten® It Pull-On Bermudas look fantastic with a flowy short sleeve cotton blouse if you prefer a tighter fit.
2) Avoid Low-/Mid-Rise
Fashion is a game of risks and rewards. What looks great on one person may not be the case for someone else. When shopping for Bermuda shorts, you may feel like this style is unflattering on your figure. If that's the case, try out the high-waisted trend that accentuates the curves of your body and hugs higher on the hip. Stay away from low or mid-rise cuts, and shop for pieces that are pull-on, like our Dream Jean Bermuda's, that are smooth at the waistline.
3) Proportions Are Key
Your ideal inseam length ranges and depends on your height, body type, and personal comfort level. Your shorts can be anywhere from 6" to 12" depending on how tall you are or what style of pants you prefer. If you want the illusion that your legs are longer than they are, a shorter inseam will work better for petite girls who have trouble looking taller.
But, Bermuda shorts can make even the longest legs look short. The knee-length cut allows for more mobility and comfort, but it also gives a shorter appearance to those with long limbs. While sporting this trend, to elongate your figure frame, wear a pair of shoes that have a bit of a heel or wedge.
4) Make it comfortable
A pair of Bermudas with an airy blouse on the hottest summer days is a favorite outfit to wear for many. Look for a silhouette that flares out at the knee as they're far more comfortable in the heat! From bike rides to picnics, our pair of cuffed Bermuda shorts were designed for all-day comfort. These stretchy twill bottoms are even styled with five pockets to hold small items while on the go!
Tribal® also has a 13-inch pull-on Bermuda short, designed with our three most popular comfort factors: a Flatten® It tummy panel that shapes, slims and holds you in, ultra-stretchy bengaline fabric, a zipper-free pull-on waist. Talk about a triple threat!
